Las Iguanas scoops IiP Gold
25 July, 2012
Latin American chain Las Iguanas has won the Gold Standard Award from Investors in People—the highest possible rating in the staff management scheme.
The operator has held Investors in People accreditation since 2001 but decided to push for the Gold Standard this year, prompting an assessment of its policies against 126 performance indicators. The scoring process involved random visits to Las Iguanas restaurants and telephone interviews.
Investors in People assessor Veronica Parsons said of Las Iguanas: “You have created a great Latin American experience for your guests. It is also really good to see such great enthusiasm, commitment and willingness to always improve as an organisation, which should make you an exemplar not only to other organisations in your industry, but also to some of those in other industry sectors.”
Las Iguanas managing director Eren Ali said: “We are thrilled at receiving IiP Gold status. It marks a major milestone in our company’s 21-year history and recognises the energy, passion and sheer dedication of so many here at Las Iguanas in the pursuit of the definitive Latin American restaurant experience. We work hard to create meaningful, worthwhile and rewarding careers and are delighted this has been recognised.”
Ali added that Las Iguanas was seeking to double the size of its business in the UK over the next few years, creating another 1,000 jobs along the way. It currently runs 27 restaurants in the UK.
