Dhaliwal and McDonald Shine for Awards

Red Hot World Buffet co-founder Helen Dhaliwal and McDonald’s UK chief executive Jill McDonald are among the names on the shortlists for this year’s Women 1st Shine Awards.

The prizes, which reward achievement in hospitality as well as tourism, travel and transport sectors, has revealed shortlists in five categories. Dhaliwal is nominated in the outstanding entrepreneur category alongside four others, while McDonald, pictured, is in the section for Woman of the Year.

Others from the sector to be nominated include Caroline Harris, marketing director of Costa Coffee’s Enterprises division, and Lisa Mullaney, assistant general manager at Dishoom, both of whom are in the running for the rising star award. Jackie Cupper, operations director of Spirit Pub Company and Jill Stein, director of the Seafood Restaurant in Padstow, are up for the lifetime achievement award.
