YO!’s calorie counting scoops award

18 July, 2012

YO! Sushi has won the accolade of best restaurant for calorie counters at the Healthy Food Guide’s Healthy Eating Awards.

As Peach Report reported earlier in the week, La Tasca won the title of best restaurant for gluten-free eaters at the awards. Other winners included Giraffe, voted best for variety; Harvester, best for those on a budget; Nando’s, best for online nutrition information; Zizzi, best for special diets; Wagamama, best for busting hunger; and Pizza Express, best healthy eating idea.

Calorie counting has become a particularly hot topic for operators over the last year, with the government increasing pressure on businesses to promote healthier eating and list the nutritional content of their dishes. YO! Sushi won the prize for initiatives including clear display of calories, online nutritional information and a ‘Healthy Choice’ set menu of four dishes weighing in at around 400 calories.

YO! Sushi CEO Robin Rowland said of his company's win: “It is a real honour to have been recognised for the best for calorie counters accolade, especially with the particularly high standard of competition amongst each category this year. As the established market leader and most famous sushi brand in the UK, we have grown rapidly since 1997 and continue to be dedicated to helping customers sustain a healthy balanced diet.”
