Wimpy revamps its menu
6 April, 2011
Wimpy is overhauling its menu in a bid to reinvigorate sales, Marketing magazine reports. The revamp will see it lose some of its long-running desserts, including the Knickerbocker Glory and Banana Longboat.
UK marketing director Claire Starling says it is the biggest change to Wimpy’s dessert menu since the 1980s. As well as trimming menu items it considers to be outdated, Wimpy will introduce new dishes including the Eskimo Waffle—a waffle and ice cream sandwich with cream and maple syrup.
On the burger side of the menu, Wimpy will trial a new range of open burgers including the Brunch and Mushroom Burgers. Menus themselves will also be redesigned, cutting the number of pages to make them easier to navigate. It continues Wimpy’s drive towards a diner-style concept.
