Openings: Sticks ‘n’ Sushi doubles up; more for Cote, Jamie's, Stonegate
20 February, 2013
The Danish owned Japanese concept Sticks ‘n’ Sushi is opening a second site in Covent Garden. There's openings news too from Cote, Jamie's, Sushinho, Obika, JDW and Stonegate.
The move into the centre of town follows the success of the first Sticks ‘n’ Sushi in Wimbledon. The concept mixes Danish interior design and Japanese food including sushi and yakatori sticks. Davis Coffer Lyons advised the landlord, Covent Garden London, on the deal. The new venture also adds to Sticks ‘n’ Sushi’s ten restaurants in Denmark. Co-founder Kim Rahbek said: “We came to Wimbledon as an unknown with big dreams and were made very welcome by the locals. We have nerves, but are courageous in our team and what we do, so can only hope to enjoy the same excitement for our new central location.”
Bistro chain Cote is opening in Chichester next Thursday (28 February). It has also lined up a site on Whitecross Street near London’s Barbican for late March.
Jamie’s Italian has launched its long-delayed Aberdeen restaurant. It was scheduled to open last summer but delayed by building work.
Japanese and Brazilian fusion concept Sushinho has just opened its second site on Devonshire Square in the City. It joins the original Sushinho on King’s Road.
J D Wetherspoon is opening a new pub and hotel in Beccles. The site replaces the King’s Head hotel and will retain that name. It launches on Tuesday (26 February) after a £2.4m refurb.
Mozzarella-focused Italian concept Obika is to open on Charlotte Street in early summer. It will join the two existing Obikas in Canary Wharf and South Kensington. A fourth site is planned by the end of the year. See also: Buffalo on the bill.
Pub company Stonegate is opening its fourth Popworld nightclub in Swansea in early March. It succeeds a Mitchells & Butlers Reflex concept there.
