New openings: Spots for Yalla Yalla, Be At One, Loungers, GBK, Zizzi

Be At One is moving out of London having secured a site in Reading, while Yalla Yalla is appearing at a Shoreditch pop-up. There's openings news too from Loungers, GBK, Zizzi, Young's, River Cottage Canteen and top chef Jason Atherton's Social Eating House.

Be At One’s first venue outside of the capital is on the site of the Sahara bar on Gun Street. The bar group has also picked up the leasehold interest of a Slug & Lettuce on Fenchurch Street in the City. Both locations were acquired through Davis Coffer Lyons.

Lebanese street food concept Yalla Yalla (pictured) has opened a six-month pop-up site on Shoreditch High Street. It follows the success of a pop-up ‘Summer Shack’ on the South Bank last year.

Gourmet Burger Kitchen is to open at Norwich’s Chapelfield shopping centre. Its 4,400 square feet site will sit near Giraffe, Wagamama, Carluccio’s, YO! Sushi, ASK and Café Rouge in the restaurant segment of the centre. GBK’s property and development director Stephen Evans said: “We are delighted to have secured out first site in Norwich. We have been actively seeking premises in the city for some time and Chapelfield with its strong footfall and tenant mix will be a great addition to our estate.”

River Cottage Canteen is opening in Bristol. The venue is located in the citys St John’s Court Hall and has been designed by Simple Simon Design. It is due to open in late February and will become the third Canteen for the River Cottage brand.

Young’s has completed on the acquisition of the Bull & Gate pub on Kentish Town Road in Camden. The deal for the 17th century pub, which has been a renowned music venue over the years, was brokered by Davis Coffer Lyons—which said demand for good London freehouses continued to “vastly” outstrip supply.

Jason Atherton’s second London restaurant, Social Eating House, will open on Poland Street in Soho in April. Atherton is behind the Pollen Street Social concept that has proved one of the biggest hits in more relaxed fine dining of the last few years. His new restaurant will have a contemporary bistro menu, with starters from £6 to £8 and main courses from £12 to £18.

Zizzi has opened its new UK largest restaurant in Glasgow. The Zizzi Royal Exchange has 250 covers, plus the chain’s first standalone bar area and seating outside. The venue opened on Monday (11 February).

As previously reported, café to bar to restaurant group Loungers has hit the milestone of 30 sites with the launch of the Grupo Lounge in the Bristol suburb of Westbury-on-Trym. It is also the company’s 25th location in its Lounge format. The 3,200 square feet site has been converted from a former Blockbusters video shop, and is Loungers’ sixth location in Bristol.

Loungers next opening will be the Impero Lounge in Portished in March, followed by its sixth Cosy Club venue in Exeter the next month. Across all of 2013, 12 sites are scheduled to be opened. for us to have multiple Lounge sites in the same town or city.”

Also as reported, healthy fast food concept Abokado will open its 14th store on Cornhill in the City in late March. It is one of a package of ex-Starbucks sites that the company has acquired.
