Openings: Faucet pops up by Olympics, plus Dishoom, Loungers, Apostrophe and Bill's
1 August, 2012
Faucet Inn has launched a pop-up ‘Podium Bar’ within sight of London’s Olympic Park. There's also openings news from Dishoom, Apostrophe, Bill's Produce, Loungers, InnBrighton and Youngs.
Faucet Inn’s new venue (pictured) launched to coincide with last week’s opening ceremony of the Games, and will be open until 19 September. Situated at the edge of the Westfield centre, the 18,000 square feet pop-up will feature a giant TV screen to screen events and is themed around an English pub garden.
Food is being provided by Westfield Stratford caterer Absolute Taste, and entry fees will be charged after 12 noon. Faucet managing director Steve Cox said: “We are delighted to have opened our latest concept adjacent to the Olympic Stadium. With the sun shining, the beer flowing and the excitement of the event of the century on our doorstep, we are looking forward to welcoming visitors from around the world onto the Podium.”
Covent Garden’s Bombay café concept Dishoom is to open a second site on Boundary Street in Shoreditch. The venue will incorporate a 110-cover café as well as bar, kitchen and courtyard spaces.
Café group Apostrophe opened its 21st site at Terminal 4 at Heathrow on Saturday (28 July). The 130-cover opening is in conjunction with TRG Concessions and will be the first Apostrophe to offer is new English breakfast. Ben Crowley, Heathrow’s head of food and beverage, said: “We are proud to welcome Apostrophe to Heathrow’s Terminal 4… Apostrophe’s newest offering is a fantastic way for our customers to treat themselves before their weekend getaway, business trip or summer holiday.”
Café, restaurant and store concept Bill’s has confirmed its tenth opening on the former Bar Estilo site on Hill Rise in Richmond. It follows recent openings on Hartfield Road in Wimbledon and Brewer Street in Soho.
Loungers wants to open a sixth site in Bristol—the city where it was founded and remains headquartered. It has submitted a planning application for the site having agreed a deal.
Brighton-based pub group InnBrighton has secured a third site in London—the Clarendon in Newington Green in Islington. The deal was brokered by Davis Coffer Lyons. InnBrighton has set a target of around 25 venues in the capital.
Young’s is to launch a new 17-room boutique hotel in the village of Claygate in Surrey. The October opening of The Foley follows a £3m investment and will provide a pub and dining room as well as rooms. Together with the success of the Alma hotel in Wandsworth, the opening of the Foley suggests a renewed focus on hotels for Young’s.
