New openings: Jamie lands at Gatwick, second for Honest Burgers
4 July, 2012
Jamie Oliver has opened his 'Jamie at Gatwick' venue, comprising a Jamie’s Italian, a Union Jacks Bar and a Jamie’s Italian Bakery station. Other openings news this week comes from Honest Burgers, Feng Sushi and Crussh.
The Gatwick launch is Jamie Oliver’s biggest site to date, covering 6,000 square feet, and also becomes the largest at the airport. The restaurants will be open from the first flight of the day to the last. Oliver said: “Opening this restaurant in the airport is a new and exciting step to take. Whether you want to dine in the Italian, grab food for the flight from the bakery or savour some good old Blighty grub before you het off, this is something really special, just for Gatwick.” Jamie’s Italian has meanwhile continued its brand extensions by opening its first deli at its Cheltenham branch. The Milsom Place venue offers takeaway dishes and a meat counter.
Honest Burgers, the acclaimed burger operation in Brixton Village market recently profiled by Peach Report, is to open a second restaurant on Meard Street in Soho this summer. It will have space for about 40 diners and will replicate its popular Brixton formula.
Feng Sushi has opened its eighth restaurant in West Hampstead. The West End Lane site has been designed by Stiff + Trevillion and has outdoor tables plus a new children’s menu.
Crussh is to launch a summer bar at its Boxpark Shoreditch branch over the course of the Olympic Games. Crussh After Dark @ Boxpark will serve alcoholic smoothies, cocktails, local beers, fair trade wines and a special evening menu. Its new ‘Cool Britannia’ smoothie and frozen yoghurt will be endorsed by UK diver and Crussh Ambassador Leon Taylor at the summer bar’s launch.
Thornbridge Brewery is to open its 12th pub—the Cross Scythes in Sheffield. The pub is on a ten-year free-of-tie deal with Punch Taverns.
