Livebookings seals star deal with Michelin

5 March, 2013

Online reservations specialist Livebookings has given itself a major coverage and publicity boost by striking a new partnership with Michelin.

The deal will see Livebookings integrate its booking technology into Michelin Restaurants, its online search database. Michelin will take a minority stake in Livebookings as part of the arrangement, and will sell its range of services to restaurants in some countries.

Visitors to the Michelin site will now be able to make instant bookings at restaurants. The deal applies at first to France and Germany, but plans are already underway to expand coverage to other key territories in Europe—including the UK later this year. The alliance should give an enormous lift to Livebookings’ presence on the continent, following its surging figures in the UK. For Michelin, too, it may well prove the trigger to greater exposure beyond France.

Livebookings chief executive Colin Tenwick (pictured) said:"Today’s announcement marks the perfect marriage of technical innovation in restaurant management with one of the most recognisable brands in the world. We are extremely proud to be providing such a successful and well recognized company with our market-leading platform."

Michelin Travel Partner chief executive Alain Cuq said: "Michelin had made this exciting move forward after a full evaluation of all options available. Livebookings’ proven, innovative technology is uniquely placed to provide the scale and flexibility we need to propose new value added services to the restaurants and expand into new markets."
