CGA Peach has announced the initial dates for its 2015 programme of market-leading network events - including the return of US guru Jim Sullivan to London in May and confirmation of its flagship CGA Peach 2020 conference and awards dinner in November.

A challenge was thrown down to the audience at this year’s Peach Hero & Icon Awards to name all the music intros for each of our award winners. We had three winners: Marcel Khan of Five Guys, Kate Nicholls of the ALMR and Mark McCulloch of We are Spectacular!.

The Tasty group’s Wildwood brand has taken a unit near the Derry’s Cross shopping centre in Plymouth. Other brands in another busy week of openings news include Loungers, Mitchells & Butlers, TGI Friday’s, Pizza Express, Marston’s, Bill’s, Shake Shack and ASK Italian.

Premier Inn and Costa drive Whitbread growth
11 December, 2015

Whitbread reported like-for-like sales grew 6.0% in the 13 weeks to 27 November, driven mainly by Premier Inn with a 8.5% LFL uplift. Costa was up 5.2% and Restaurants ahead 1.6%. The group also announced that Patrick Dempsey, md of Whitbread Hotels & Restaurants, will step down in February to be succeeded by Paul Flaum, currently head of Whitbread Restaurants.

Pub and restaurant groups see November like-for-likes grow 3.4%

Pub and restaurant groups saw collective like-for-like sales grow 3.4% in November, against the same month last year. Latest figures from the Coffer Peach Business Tracker also showed that London remains more buoyant than the rest of the country with like-for-like sales up 6.1%, compared to 2.4% outside the M25.

Comptoir Libanais, the ETM group’s Botanist, Hakkasan’s Yauatcha, Aubaine and Shoryu Ramen have signed up for the Broadgate Circle development in the City, due to launch in the spring. Meanwhile, Pizza Express, Nando’s, Bella Italia, Loungers and Starbucks have all confirmed for a new leisure complex in Loughborough, according to local media reports
