Colder August fails to chill eating and drinking-out growth

Britain’s restaurant and managed pub groups recorded another month of steady growth in August, with collective like-for-like sales up 1.3% on the same time last year, latest data from the Coffer Peach Business Tracker shows. Chillier than average weather had an impact, but the sector still delivered a 17th consecutive month of positive growth.

Cities driving eating and drinking-out growth

London is not the only driver of growth in the UK eating and drinking out market. Cities like Manchester, Leeds and Liverpool are also seeing big increases in new restaurant, pub and bar openings, according to research from out-of-home insight specialists CGA Peach.

Groups see like-for-like sales grow 2.2% in July

Britain’s top managed pub and restaurant chains are delivering consistent growth and are at the forefront of the economic recovery, latest data from the Coffer Peach Business Tracker shows. Collective like-for-like sales rose 2.2% in July – the 16th consecutive month of positive growth for the sector.
