Linking guest and staff feedback a major opportunity for operators

Customer and employee engagement are both vital components of strategy for companies in the eating and drinking-out market, but few operators are consciously linking the two together, new research by CGA Peach for customer experience specialists InMoment (formerly Empathica) reveals.

London’s Soho is poised to get its first “bunny bar” on 29 September – a format that has evolved out of the original Bunnychow truck (pictured) and pop-up at Boxpark, Shoreditch, in east London. Others to announce openings this week include Ed’s Easy Diner, Luminar, Little Gems Dining, Restaurant Group, Five Guys, Mitchells & Butlers, St Austell, Foundation and Chilango and Fuller, Smith & Turner.

Groups see like-for-like sales grow 2.2% in July

Britain’s top managed pub and restaurant chains are delivering consistent growth and are at the forefront of the economic recovery, latest data from the Coffer Peach Business Tracker shows. Collective like-for-like sales rose 2.2% in July – the 16th consecutive month of positive growth for the sector.

US burger concept Five Guys has lined up openings at Cambridge Leisure Park and Harlow Water Gardens as it continues its expansion around the UK. Cities driving eating and drinking-out growth

London is not the only driver of growth in the UK eating and drinking out market. Cities like Manchester, Leeds and Liverpool are also seeing big increases in new restaurant, pub and bar openings, according to research from out-of-home insight specialists CGA Peach.

World Cup helps pub drink sales - but not eating-out

Managed pub and restaurant groups saw collective like-for-like sales grow just 0.4% in June. While the World Cup helped push up trade in drink-led pubs, branded restaurants reported flat sales and pub restaurants saw a sales dip compared to the same month last year, according to latest data from the Coffer Peach Business Tracker.
